Signs of pregnancy and imminent birth in cats:
1. Decreased appetite. Before giving birth, the cat's appetite begins to decrease and there is no appetite. This is mainly caused by the kittens moving around in the mother cat's uterus and squeezing the cat's stomach, or the mother cat's own birth anxiety.
2. Female cats become more clingy after pregnancy. It is worth noting that this clinging reaction in cats will become extremely obvious a few hours before giving birth. Female cats will frequently surround their owners, stay near them, and lick their owners' hands.
3. Some time before giving birth, female cats may walk around the house, panting, and become restless due to childbirth anxiety.
4. On the day the cat gives birth, the cat will start to stop eating. 12 to 24 hours before delivery, the body temperature of the female cat will drop significantly by about 1 degree, and the body temperature will return to normal during delivery. A few hours before the cat gives birth, the female cat's uterus begins to contract, which can be clearly observed.
5. When delivery is approaching, the cat’s abdomen swells significantly and begins to sag, and the two rows of nipples that are usually hard to see become clearly visible.
Cat postpartum care matters:
1. Feed female cats foods rich in protein, fat, vitamins and minerals, such as fish soup, chicken soup, Milk, soy milk, etc. Make sure to provide the female cat with plenty of clean drinking water.
2. Female cats should be observed and examined after giving birth to prevent diseases such as mastitis, metritis, pyometra, vaginitis, etc. Once there are any abnormalities, they should be sent to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment immediately.
3. After the mother cat gives birth, do not move things around casually, otherwise it will easily disturb the mother cat and cause the mother cat to take the kittens away.
