Erythromycin is useful for dogs, but it is not recommended to use human erythromycin eye ointment on dogs. Because erythromycin eye ointment is an antibiotic drug, it is generally used for humans. Currently, there are many eye drugs for pets, which are more suitable for pets.
Dog eye treatment
1. Eye ointment. The drug concentration is relatively stable and does not require frequent administration. It is very suitable for dogs who are not prone to repeated eye drops but have poor treatment effect on corneal ulcers.
2. Eye drops. Easy to use and cheap. However, when used, the effective concentration drops rapidly due to dilution by tears. Because the drug will be quickly washed away by tears, it requires repeated eye drops every day.
3. Subconjunctival injection. With this method, drugs can quickly enter the eye's vasculature, and most antibacterial drugs and corticosteroids can be injected subconjunctivally.
4. Intravenous injection. When ophthalmia occurs in the eyeball, intravenous injection is required to achieve the effective drug concentration required by the eyeball.
5. Oral administration and intramuscular injection. Two aspects need to be considered in treating eye diseases through this approach: one is the absorption state of the drug site and the effective D plasma drug concentration; the other is the ability of the drug to pass through the blood-aqueous humor barrier to ensure the effective drug concentration at the eye disease site.
