Can cats recover from colds on their own?

Whether a cat can heal itself from a cold mainly depends on the virulence of the pathogen and the body’s resistance. Cats get a common cold, and if their body's resistance is strong, they may recover on their own. If the cold symptoms are caused by viruses or bacteria, the possibility of self-healing is relatively small, and it may even cause other serious diseases, and in severe cases, it may threaten the cat's life. Therefore, after a cat catches a cold, for the sake of the cat’s health, it is recommended that the owner take the cat to the pet hospital for treatment in a timely manner.

How to take care of a cat with a cold:

1. Cats are generally weak during a cold period. It is necessary to reduce the activities of the sick cat as much as possible and place the sick cat in a comfortable and warm place. (or cool), quiet place, let it fully rest, and secondly reduce its consumption, maintain physical strength, and enhance resistance to disease.

2. To strengthen the dietary care of cats, first of all, provide them with sufficient drinking water. Put a little salt in the drinking water (0.9 grams of salt in 100 ml of water) to maintain the balance of water and salt metabolism in the cat's body.

3. When cats have a cold, pay attention to strengthening nutrition. Cats will have varying degrees of loss of appetite during the illness. It is recommended that owners feed their cats food that is nutritionally comprehensive and balanced and more palatable.
