Can cats eat shrimp skin?

Cats should not eat shrimp skin directly, because the shrimp shell is relatively hard, and it is easy for cats to scratch their mouth, throat, gastrointestinal, etc. during swallowing, and may even cause more serious secondary infections. But it is okay if you boil and mash the shrimp shells and feed them to your cat. Although shrimp shells are rich in phosphorus, they can appropriately supplement trace elements in cats’ bodies. However, when feeding shrimp shells to cats, you need to control the amount of food and do not feed them randomly. Be sure to eat shrimp. If a cat eats too much shrimp skin, it will lead to picky eating, indigestion, and even constipation.

Things to note when cats eat shrimp skin:

1. The skin of the shrimp should be broken into pieces for easy consumption and is good for cats, especially female cats.

2. It can supplement calcium. Be careful not to let it eat too quickly and easily get stuck in the throat.

3. Do not consume too much salt. Eating too much salt can easily lead to urinary tract stones. It is recommended to wash the skin of shrimp with water before feeding it to the cat.

4. There is no big problem if you eat it occasionally. Cats are not allowed to eat shrimp because seafood can easily cause digestive system problems.
