How long can rabies virus live on cat paws?

The survival time of rabies virus on cat's paws is generally less than ten minutes. Usually there is no rabies virus on cat paws. The virus can only be carried by a cat infected with rabies virus after licking its paws and leaving saliva behind. Rabies virus generally does not survive for more than 2-3 minutes under aerobic conditions, and it becomes inactive when exposed to air.
