When owners come into contact with the skin of cat ear mites, they will see severe itching and local allergic reactions, producing reddish-brown or black ear canal secretions. Scratches may appear near the ears, neck, and base of the tail. Loss of hair on the outside of the auricle and possible ear hematoma. Severe cases can cause otitis and hearing loss.
