What to do if your dog doesn’t like grooming
What should you do if your dog doesn’t like combing? When combing your dog, your tone should be gentle; when your dog doesn’t want to be combed and resists, don’t scold it and use other ways to stroke it; to eliminate the dog’s wariness, gently praise and stroke it. While continuing to groom it, the dog will gradually adapt.

Domestic pet dogs, especially those raised since childhood, are generally willing to let their owners comb their hair, and some even like combing. However, there are also some pet dogs that have not developed the habit of combing their coat since they were young, or they have not been combed by their original owners. When the new owner combs their coat, the pet dog will subconsciously resist, even when the comb reaches the abdomen or close to it. When it reaches the head, it will make a biting motion, making it impossible for you to continue grooming.

Solutions for dogs who don’t like grooming:

1. When combing your dog’s hair, your tone should be gentle.

2. When your dog is unwilling to be groomed and resists grooming, do not scold it and use other methods to caress it.

3. Eliminate the dog’s wariness, gently praise and stroke it while continuing to groom it, and the dog will gradually adapt.

4. You can comb it before breakfast every day, and then feed the pet dog food after combing the coat, so that the pet dog will have a conditioned reflex to eat only after combing, and it may be easier to accept grooming.

5. For some pet dogs that are really disobedient, in order to prevent them from biting when grooming, you can tie the pet dog's mouth before grooming. It is best to use a gauze strip to tie the mouth, because the gauze strip is relatively soft and will not hurt the dog's mouth. Use the gauze strip to wrap around from the bridge of the pet dog's nose to the chin, tie a knot, and then wrap it around the back of the neck to tie it tightly. After tying it several times, the pet dog will gradually adapt to combing its coat and will get rid of the bad habit of not being allowed to comb.
