Purebred Poodles have uniform coat color, no stray hairs, and the hair is best in small curly or lamb hair curls. The curlier the hair, the purer it is. There are many colors of poodles, but the ones we see more frequently on the market are brown, white, black, champagne, red, and gray.
Generally, the head of a purebred Poodle is small, round, and slightly protruding. The bridge of the nose, cheek bones and muscles are smooth, and the length from the occipital bone to the bridge of the nose is equal to the length of the muzzle. The muzzle is long, straight and slender, and the lips are not droopy. Slightly sunken under eyes. The lower jaw is of medium size, well defined and not tapering.
The eyes are at the level of the stop and slightly slanted. The outline of the eyelids is almond-shaped; in black, white, and gray Poodles, and in apricot Poodles, the eyes are black or dark brown; in brown Poodles, they may be dark amber.
The nose of a purebred Poodle should be well developed, with a vertical occipital bone and open nostrils. The nose color of black, white and gray poodles is black; the nose color of tan poodles is brown; the nose color of apricot poodles is brown throughout the dun range, and may also be black. There is no best color, either Accept it, but avoid possible fading.
The Poodle’s ears are very long, drooping along both sides of the cheeks, located on the extension line starting from the upper end of the nose and passing below the outer corners of the eyes. They are flat, widened at the back of the ear base, rounded at the tip, and covered with very long curly hair. Poodles whose ears do not reach the corners of the mouth are not classified as "excellent".
