What can’t puppies eat?

What should puppies not eat? Chocolate contains very high purine content, which will damage the dog’s kidneys, and caffeine is not good for puppies; onions and green onions contain disulfide, which may oxidize the red blood cells of puppies. Causes hemolytic anemia; animal liver contains a lot of nutrients, which are beneficial in small amounts but not good in excess.

 (1)Deadly Chocolate

Theobromine in chocolate has a very high purine content, and dogs’ ability to degrade purine is much lower than that of humans, which can damage the dog’s kidneys. Chocolate also contains caffeine, which is also detrimental to the dog’s health.

(2) Onions and green onions that can cause anemia

Onions and green onions contain disulfides, which are harmless to humans, but can cause oxidation of red blood cells in cats and dogs, possibly causing hemolytic anemia. Even by heating, the harmful substances cannot be destroyed.

 (3) Don’t overeat animal liver

Many people use duck liver or beef liver as their dog’s staple food. It is cheap and dogs love to eat it. Liver contains a large number of nutrients and can meet a variety of nutritional needs of dogs. A small amount of liver is good for dogs, but too much can cause problems because liver contains large amounts of vitamin A, which can cause vitamin A toxicity. Excessive amounts of vitamins can cause bone problems.

(4) Broken bones that can penetrate the gastrointestinal tract

Bone marrow is an excellent source of calcium, phosphorus, copper, manganese and other nutrients. Chewing large bones can also help remove tartar and strengthen teeth. Fragile bones, such as chicken bones, fish bones, cooked tube bones, etc., may puncture the dog's throat, esophagus, stomach or intestines and cause serious injuries. For dogs who like to chew, eating bones is not very dangerous; but for dogs who like to swallow, eating bones is very dangerous. If you want to feed bones, cook them in a pressure cooker to reduce the risk.

 (5) Condiments that are harmful to health

Salt, chili, pepper, etc. are not suitable for dogs. Dogs metabolize these condiments differently from humans. If they consume too much salt, dogs cannot excrete the excess salt through sweating like humans, which can cause salt poisoning.

 (6) High-sugar foods

Many high-sugar foods, such as ice cream, cream cakes, etc., do not have particularly important nutrients, but dogs love to eat them. Eating this type of food regularly can easily cause dental disease, obesity and diabetes in dogs.

Therefore, no matter how much we dote on our dogs, we cannot indulge them in food, otherwise it will be too late.
