How to feed puppies dog food

How to feed dog food to puppies? After the dog is one month old, you can start to add dog food. Puppies eat wet dog food, or soak dry dog food for consumption; when soaking dog food, choose a temperature between 40 degrees and 70 degrees. Warm water, the amount of water should be controlled according to experience. It takes about 20 minutes to soak the dog food until it is soft; small dogs do not need to soak the dog food for two months, and medium-sized dogs generally stop soaking the dog food for about three months.

First of all, we should understand when dogs can add dog food. Under normal circumstances, you can start adding dog food after the dog is one month old and weaned. And it is best to feed your puppy wet dog food, or soak the purchased dry dog food in water before feeding it to it.

Keep track of the water temperature. Be sure to choose warm water between 40 and 70 degrees. Also make sure it is warm water that has been cooled after boiling. Never pour hot water directly on dog food, because doing so can easily lose the nutrients in the dog food, and it is also very easy to burn the dog.

Keep track of the amount of water. This must be achieved in the daily experimental process. The best condition is that the dog food can just absorb the water without leaving any excess water. In this way, the excess water will not be poured out and some nutrients will be lost.

Seize the time. The dog food can be soaked until soft. Because the degree of dissolution of each type of dog food is different, the soaking time will also vary. Under normal circumstances, 60-degree warm water can soak all the dog food in about 20 minutes. The temperature of dog food at this time is about 30 degrees, which is just right for feeding dogs.

Secondly, there are some things to pay attention to when feeding dog food. If the dog has teeth, it can eat hard dog food, and there is no need to eat soaked dog food. If it is a small dog, it is no longer necessary to soak food when it is about two months old. In addition, if it is a medium-sized dog, it is generally no longer necessary to eat soaked dog food at about three months, and it will be necessary to completely transition to hard dog food at four months. If there is a difference between individual dogs, then it will not exceed four and a half months.

Finally, these relatively hard dog foods are very good for the dog’s teeth, and the hardness is also very good for the health of the teeth. It can also effectively prevent dogs from developing bad breath or oral diseases such as periodontitis. But to a certain extent, hard dog food can effectively alleviate the discomfort experienced by dogs during the teething period.
