How to train a dog to shake hands
1. Let the dog sit down in front of you, hold the bait in your right hand, and place it close to the ground. Say "shake hand" to your dog while encouraging him to reach out and touch your hand. When the dog's left paw leaves the ground, reward it with food.

2. At this time, slowly raise the hand position, guide the dog to extend its paws to chest height, and keep it there.

3. Transition to using gestures. Stand up, holding the bait in your left hand behind your back, and extend your right hand when giving the "handshake" command. When your dog catches your hand, hold its paw in mid-air and reward it with the bait.

4. Use the same steps to train the dog's right paw, using the "extend paw" command.

Difficulties you may encounter during training:

Some dogs may not grab the owner’s hand, but sniff with their nose. What should we do in this case?

Solution: Tap the dog’s nose to stop it. The dog may bark, nuzzle you, or simply remain motionless. Be patient and keep encouraging it. If the dog cannot lift its paw on its own, pat it gently or help it lift it, and then reward it.

If the dog does what you want, immediately say "you are great" to acknowledge its performance, and you can also reward it with small snacks or pet it encouragingly.
