Demodex mites mainly live in the hair follicles and sebaceous glands of dogs. The initial symptoms are mild itching, skin flushing, congestion, and hair loss. In severe cases, erythema and pityriasis-like scales appear. Demodex is hereditary and is often found in German Shepherds, Pekingese, Dachshunds, and Bulldogs.
The most obvious manifestation of skin diseases caused by fleas and lice is severe itching of the dog's skin. In severe cases, it can cause hair loss all over the body, anemia, and decreased immunity.
