Signs before a Teddy dog gives birth:
Generally speaking, childbirth is completed by the female dog’s instinct and does not require help from humans. Assisted delivery is only needed when the female dog is having difficulty giving birth. Most female dogs can give birth to puppies naturally without human help, and can bite and eat the fetal membranes, bite off the umbilical cord, and lick the mucus from the puppies on their own. However, the fertility of some breeds of female dogs is poor; after a few female dogs give birth to their third fetus, they are unable to handle the puppies on their own due to lack of strength, and require proper delivery assistance or other care from the dog owners.
Premonitions and changes in female dogs before giving birth
Before the female dog gives birth, she undergoes a series of changes in physiological form and behavior, which are called birth signs.
Within 2 weeks before giving birth, the female dog’s breasts develop rapidly, enlarge, and the glands are enriched. Two days before delivery, a small amount of clear fluid or colostrum can be expressed from the nipples. A few days before delivery, the labia gradually become soft, swollen, and congested, the folds on the labia skin flattened, and the skin turned slightly red; the vaginal mucosa flushed; the pelvic ligaments became soft and loose, and the sacroischial ligament and sacrocondylar ligament also became soft; buttocks The muscles are visibly collapsed. 24 to 36 hours before delivery, the female dog's appetite will be greatly reduced or even stop eating, her stool will be thin, her behavior will be irritable, and she will constantly use her forelimbs to scratch the ground. This is especially true for primiparous female dogs.
3 to 10 hours before delivery, labor pains begin. The female dog is restless, breathing faster, panting, moaning or screaming, scratching the ground, and urinating more frequently. If you see mucus flowing out of the vagina, it means that Delivery is due within hours. Usually delivery occurs in the early morning or evening, and special attention should be paid during these two periods.
The time of delivery can be seen from the changes in the body temperature of the female dog. 3 to 4 days before delivery, the dog's body temperature drops from the normal 38 to 39 degrees Celsius to 36.5 to 37.5 degrees Celsius. When the body temperature rises, the dog will give birth.
